Scum Pipe

The scum pipe is used to remove oil from oil-water separators and also for floating materials or scum in wastewater treatment plants.

Scum Pipes can be manufactured in various materials such as carbon steel, 304 and 316 stainless steel, FRP and PVC.

There are various manual actuation methods, and some can be converted to automatic by incorporating a gearmotor.

Scum pipe – Lever operated

The simplest is the lever-operated type and is used in primary sedimentation tanks, municipal water treatment plants, and oil and scum flocculators for oily refinery waters.

The tube is manufactured in various diameters to suit the specific needs of the project.

It is used when precise skimming and low water entrainment are not required.

Scum Pipe – Rack and Pinion

Used in industrial and municipal facilities when additional water are not required to aid discharge, such as in an API oil-water separator.

Greater rotation control results in better decanting of the oil layer from the liquid surface. The skimming will be approximately a 20% oil and 80% water mixture.

This rack and pinion design allows for 75-degree rotation in both directions.
